Nannies approved under the Childcare
Approval Scheme (CAS) will continue to be approved until their
approval expires (one year after it was granted). Approval under the CAS will mean parents
if they are eligible, claim the childcare element of working
tax credit and employer supported vouchers.
Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR)
From April 16th 2007 the new Ofsted
Childcare Register is being introduced and the CAS will be phased
out. The
nanny will be required to have a valid first aid certificate and
hold public liability insurance
The Nanny will also be required to
confirm that she is suitable to work with children and that she has
training to a recognised minimum level.
The cost for registration will be
£100 per nanny, plus £36 for the CRB check. The CRB check must be
done through the post office verify system and will be subject to a
£8 admin charge
The Government is subsidising the CRB
check in full until April 2008
The Nanny can be approved under the Childcare Approval Scheme until
September 2007. After this date the nanny must be Ofsted Registered
in order for parents to continue receiving financial support or
childcare vouchers.
If the nanny does not wish to
register with OFSTED and only requires a CRB, we can arrange
documentation to be posted to the nanny.
The current application fee for
a CRB only is £56.00 inc. vat via NDF Associates
