First Aid Courses for Nannies

1 Day Nanny Refresher - First Aid Training Course Ealing London

Please note with the one day nanny refresher course this can also be arranged on a private basis.

- Manage life-threatening conditions.
- Outline principles of resuscitation.
- Name minor injuries & understand causes of unconsciousness
- Perform CPR for babies, children & adults (latest CPR guidelines)
- Identify signs of shock.
- Identify signs of anaphylactic shock
- Manage choking for babies, children & adults
- Differentiate between minor/major incidents & deal with an emergency
- Recognise & manage, bleeding, burns and extremity injuries.

There is no final exam. Those nannies who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate on the day. It is held monthly (usually the last Saturday in the month) in Ealing London.

2 Day Paediatric - OFSTED First Aid Training Course

This OFSTED course is designed for nannies working with children that are required to register for childcare vouchers or tax credits. The course meets the requirements for OFSTED (OCR) Ofsted Voluntary Childcare Register. Nannies can register under the voluntary option.

The first aid course is suitable for nannies seeking child care approval status through the voluntary registration with Ofsted. There is no final exam. Those nannies who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate on the day, that is currently valid for three years.

The training will include a sufficient level of practical training

Resuscitation and other equipment will include baby, and junior models as appropriate

Training will cover appropriate contents of first aid kit

Training should include recording accidents and incidents

The course will include learning outcomes covering the following areas:
Planning for first aid emergencies
Dealing with emergencies
Resuscitating
Recognising and dealing with shock
Recognising and responding appropriately to anaphylactic shock
Recognising and responding appropriately to electric shock
Recognising and responding appropriately to bleeding
Responding appropriately to burns and scalds
Responding appropriately to choking
Responding appropriately to suspected fractures
Responding appropriately to head, neck and back injuries
Recognising and responding appropriately to cases of poisoning
Responding appropriately to foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
Responding appropriately to eye injuries
Responding appropriately to bites and stings
Responding appropriately with effects of extreme heat and cold
Responding appropriately to febrile convulsions
Recognising and responding appropriately to the emergency needs with chronic medical conditions including: - epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes
Recognising and responding appropriately to meningitis and other serious sudden illness
